Public Footpath 501 Hackness, Public Footpath 9 Suffield-cum-Everley and Public Footpath 1 West Ayton
(Forge Valley boardwalk)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 14(1) (as amended)

The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parishes of West Ayton, Hackness and Suffield cum Everley in the Borough of Scarborough:

No pedestrian shall proceed along:
Public Footpath 501 Hackness: From Point A (Grid Ref: SE 966 889) to Point B (Grid Ref: SE 970 884), a total of 634 metres;
Public Footpath 9 Suffield-cum-Everley: From Point B (Grid Ref: SE 970 884) to Point C (Grid Ref: SE 981 875), a total of 1459 metres;
Public Footpath 1 West Ayton: From Point C (Grid Ref: SE 981 875) to Point D (Grid ref: SE 983 871), a total of 540 metres.
The alternative route:
Please follow Public Footpath 502 Hackness; Public Footpath 07 Suffield-cum-Everley and Public Footpath 702 West Ayton, from Point A (Grid Ref: SE 966 889) to Point E (Grid Ref: SE 983 869) to Point D (Grid Ref: SE 983 871).  The section E - D follows a permissive path down through the wood.

The closure will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.

The Order is necessary due to the unsafe condition of the boardwalk through the valley.
By approval of the Secretary of State for Transport on the 21 May 2024 to an extension (ref: NATTRAN/Y&H/TTRO/10731), the Order shall continue in force until 15 December 2024 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
